Bollywood megastar Aishwarya Rai has been summoned to explain an “obscene” kissing scene, Indian officials said overnight, just days after a similar row engulfed Hollywood’s Richard Gere.
Rai, who married into the Indian film industry’s most famous family last week, was ordered to appear before a district court over a scene in which she is kissed lightly on the cheek.
Her Dhoom-II co-star Hrithik Roshan and the owners of a cinema that screened the action film have also been summoned to Muzaffarpur court in the eastern state of Bihar on May 30.

The mobile game industry is getting excited over Bollywood, with Indian developers signing up stars to make games based on their films and their lives, reports Sahara Samay. Apparently “only 40 per cent of a Bollywood film’s earnings come from the box office. The rest come from music, DVD and mobile phone ring-tone sales”, and it’s almost certain mobile games will add another significant revenue stream to the mix.

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan says his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai will continue acting in films, bucking the trend of actresses quitting the industry after marriage, reports said on Thursday. Rai’s marriage last week to Abhishek Bachchan, also a top film star, captivated film-crazy Indians, who wondered if the former Miss World would continue her career.
“Jaya and I have insisted that Aishwarya must continue with her acting career,” Bachchan told the Times of India, referring to his actress wife who disappeared from the screen after marriage and resurfaced nearly two decades later.

An Indian judge ordered the arrest of Hollywood star Richard Gere and Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty on Thursday over a hug and kiss at an Aids-awareness event.
The arrest warrants were issued in the Rajasthan state capital of Jaipur following a public-interest plea filed last week by resident Poonam Chand Bhandari accusing the pair of obscenity, court officials said.
“Additional chief judicial magistrate Dinesh Gupta issued the [arrest] orders,” a court official said from Jaipur, 375km from Jodhpur.
Gere embraced the 31-year-old Shetty — winner of Britain’s Celebrity Big Brother reality show — and planted several kisses on her cheek in front of thousands of onlookers at the Aids function in the Indian capital, New Delhi, earlier this month.

At one point, it seemed as if a war of words had begun between Asha Bhosle and Himesh Reshammiya and it would only end when Asha had swung one across Himesh!
He had dared to defend his nasal singing by citing the example of Asha’s late husband, Rahul Dev Burman, who Himesh said, used to do the same. This infuriated Asha who threatened to slap him. But all seems to be well now.
As is well known, Asha’s temper flares up as easily as it recedes when she is placated, and accorded due respect and offered apologies. And Himesh is just the kind who thinks nothing of bowing to Asha’s musical genius.
This is a preview of Asha sings for Himesh in AAP KAA SURROOR . Read the full post (153 words, estimated 37 secs reading time)
