A glamorous evening with the who’s who of the music fraternity saw the launch of the second album of the dynamic Kailesh Kher. Performing for a celebrated audience Kailash Kher entertained music enthusiasts at the launch of ‘Kailasa Jhoomo Re’ in the city on Wednesday. The evening saw an enthralling performance of songs from the new album by band Kailasa, which comprises of Kailash Kher along with Paresh Kamath and Naresh Kamath. The three came together to form Kailasa and the result was for all to see with a pleasant synthesis of Sufi, folk and contemporary music in every album.

Awarapan (Music Review)

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

There are only two production houses in the country today that guarantee quality music coming from their stable - Yash Raj Films and Vishesh Films. Both have a certain branding that they have been able to build around over the years and the result is that regardless of the director, cast or crew of the film, the music is always one of the most looked forward to if it bears a Yash Raj or Vishesh Films stamp. Awarapan is no exception, more so since it brings together Bhatts, Emraan Hashmi, Mohit Suri and Pritam again.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom - The Chartbuster

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/7382/jbj2bp0.jpgShaad Ali has always got it right, be it with his storytelling or the music of his films. First ‘Saathiya’ and then ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ more than prove that. If ‘Saathiya’ has a classy feel to most of the soundtrack with Rahman at the helm then ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ had masses going in ruptures with the tunes by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy playing to the gallery.

Everything that is now associated with his film ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’ has only become bigger over the years. Yash Raj Films is country’s numero uno production house, Amitabh Bachchan sits right at the top, Abhishek Bachchan is hot property and Aditya Chopra’s smart product placement strategy has been working more often than not!

Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee (Music Review)

Monday, May 7th, 2007

Soundtrack of Aap Ka Surroor - The Moviee easily qualifies as THE most awaited album of the first half of 2007. Expectations from the music are gargantuan to say the least and reasons are aplenty…and not quite unknown to the listeners.

a) First and foremost, it is nothing short of an acid test for Himesh Reshammiya as over and above handling the music and singing department, he also turns a lead actor with the film
b) Himesh Reshammiya and Sameer have given dozens of superhit tracks together. Their fans would settle for nothing less than that here.
c) Lot is expected from the choreography/picturisation of each and every song. After all director Prashant Chadha is the man who made Reshammiya a household name through his innumerous music videos.
d) Off late, Reshammiya’s track record has been a mixed bag with a mix of hit and not-so-popular soundtracks. ‘Aap Ka Surroor’ is his chance to silence his detractors once for and all.
e) Last but not the least, as the release date of the film is coming nearer, majority of media seems to be targeting it left, right and center for no rhyme or reason. Now the ball is in the court of his loyal fans to decide the fortunes of his dream album.

The Train - A Complete Album to hear (Music Review)

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

This album is special and reasons are aplenty. Let’s begin with the best of the lot before moving on to the others.

First and foremost The Train marks the debut of Mithoon as a sole composer for an entire album. Before this soundtrack, the young lad has been coming up with consistently good results for his rearranged tracks ‘Woh Lamhe’ [Zeher] and ‘Aadat’ [Kalyug] , a superhit ‘Tere Bin’ [Bas Ek Pal] followed by equally popular tracks in ‘Anwar’ [’Maula Mere’, ‘Javeda Zindagi’] .
